Leadership in the local church is something God takes seriously, and so do we. We are a church that is led by our Chief Shepherd, Jesus Christ. We are guided by a plurality of pastor-elders who are assisted by our deacons. We are congregational affirmed, and believe strongly in the priesthood of all believers.

How are we governed?

We are an elder led, deacon served, and congregational ruled church. God gives His church pastor-elders to guard, equip, direct, shepherd, teach, pray for, and provide examples for His church. But the church is ultimately shepherded by the Chief Shepherd, Jesus Christ. He guides and indwells every believer by His Holy Spirit to make the trajectory-shaping decisions of a local church (Acts 6:1-4; Acts 13:1-4).

Elders & Deacons

The primary leadership for the church are the pastor-elders and they are assisted by deacons (Phil. 1:1; 1 Tim. 3:1-13). The Scriptures use elder/pastor/overseer interchangeably. The Scriptures hold up a plurality in this position. The office of elder is restricted to men.The responsibility for shepherding and overseeing the church’s vision and mission belongs to the elders. They are to devote themselves to prayer, ministry of the word, and the spiritual, emotional, and physical care of the Covenant Members.

The deacons are given to serve the church, often by assisting the elders by meeting needs and helping carry burdens. Both men and women may serve as deacons. (Rom. 16:1, 1 Tim. 3:10)
